There are so many benefits to having a library card; and remember, a library card is a key resource in achieving academic success. The library also is the perfect place to spend quality family time together. Check out these great ways to use your library card at The Hayner Public Library District:
1. Your library is where you can get e-books and other digital content. Download now.
2. Not sure how to download an e-book to your new device? A librarian can show you how, or you can take a workshop offered by The Hayner Public Library District on downloading to your e-reader device.
3. Save money and get the latest best seller, DVD, or music CD.
4. Use a computer to finish a school project.
5. Use free Wi-Fi.
6. Send your teens to Teen Movie Night.
7. Take classes in Tai Chi.
8. Sign up for a study room for group study sessions.
9. Have a test proctored.
10. Don’t have your own laptop? Use one of ours while you’re in the library (laptops do not check out).
11. Sign up for a computer to check your e-mail.
12. Send the kids to free programs featuring various entertainers from magicians to singer/storytellers and much more.
13. Save money while spending quality time: plan a family afternoon at the library—it’s all free!
14. Research the latest products with Consumer Resources database.
15. Attend preschool story time during the day or in the evening.
16. Bring your 5–10-year-olds to After-School Fun—always fun crafting going on.
17. Librarians are early literacy experts—they can help you find just the right book to read to your kids at night for enjoyment and learning.

36. Check out an audiobook for your next long drive or to listen to while you are working out.
37. Check out the latest CD, or explore new genres in music.
38. Check out your favorite movies for your at-home date night.
39. Attend an evening program of music and entertainment at one of our many free cultural programs featuring a wide variety of musical performers (truly something for everyone), actor/ scholars, comedy, and more. All free, all the time!
40. Learn how to replace your car’s engine or just change a tire from one of our 29 free databases.
41. Never too early to develop a second language. Bring your preschooler to Spanish Story Time for stories and songs in Spanish and English.
42. Learn more about our local history—view the great museum- quality displays in the Genealogy & Local History Library.
43. Access the Bob Graul database and view thousands of digital images of our local history recorded by this renowned Telegraph photographer.
44. Use your Hayner library card at libraries throughout the state—– you have reciprocal privileges.
45. Stuck at home with a broken leg? Call our Homebound Service to have door-to-door delivery of your favorite library materials.
46. Looking for an obscure title? Can’t find it on Hayner’s shelves? Our card catalogue links to over 500 Illinois libraries for a total of over 10 million items available to you. Still can’t find it? Ask a librarian, and we will search nationwide for your item.
47. Become a library volunteer—lots of fun opportunities and a great group of people to work with.
48. Meet local authors at book signings.
49. Go back in time and access digital issues of the Telegraph back to 1836.
50. Find a quiet spot to plug in your laptop and begin your own novel.
51. Use a library computer or check out materials to help study for SAT, ACT, ASVAB, GED, or certification exams.
52. Build your young reader’s self-esteem by letting him or her read to a certified therapy dog at the library.
